Web3 had an adoption problem — and Coinbase wanted to solve it where culture actually lives. At ComplexCon, we built an immersive world that didn’t just explain blockchain, it made you feel it. The space was designed around token-gated experiences that rewarded participation, weaving together the Coinbase brand with iconic partners like Atari and Stapleverse in a way that felt organic to the culture — not forced by a brief. NFT communities, brand collaborators, and first-time crypto curious attendees all found something that spoke to them. It was less of an activation and more of a proof of concept — showing a new generation what Web3 could actually look and feel like in the real world.

We took the experience one layer deeper with an exclusive NFT drop that doubled as a key. Holders gained access to our VIP lounge and backstage — where they could connect with the creators and talent behind the work. Each NFT was more than a pass; it was a collectible piece of original artwork created by the artists and collaborators at the heart of the activation. It turned attendance into ownership, and ownership into community — exactly the kind of real-world utility Web3 has always promised.
